As the intermediate between the basic and paramedics training, EMT-I training provides some additional basic training which includes IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, use of multi-lumen airway devices and administration of additional pharmaceutical interventions. Most of the states have stopped the licensure program for EMT-I and have been focusing more on maintaining the current lists of the EMTs of intermediate level.

EMT-P:
Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedics are also mostly referred to as paramedics. They are the highest level of EMT who provide the advanced care to the patients. EMT training for the paramedics includes advanced techniques such as fluid resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, pharmaceutical administration, obtaining IV access and other advanced procedures.
